The Solution = Let It Be (1989)
Yep, everyone's favorite crazy, creepy, Letterman-kicking artist made an album. Afrom AMG's review by Bradley Torreano:

Sounding like a cross between King Missile and circus music, The Big Problem is one crazy slab of sound. Glover's voice (which has an thin, endearing tremble) serves as the narrator to the world of nonsense he's documented on this album. Occasionally he takes the listener by surprise with a melody. Both the hypnotic "The New Clean Song" and the soothing "Never Say Never to Always" are actually pretty good songs hidden among the madness. But mostly he rants and raves in a stream-of-conscious manner over the genre-hopping music. Most of the time this works in his favor; in fact, his Residents-esque cover of "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'" is a nervy delight. The original songs, like the hilarious "Clowny Clown Clown," can be equally entertaining. But sometimes he runs headfirst into his own limitations, like on his disturbing attempt at rap, "Auto Manipulator," a harsh tribute to masturbation that lacks any subtlety at all. A good portion of the material is taken from his books of poetry, which are definitely crazy but not always engaging. But Glover is a very original entertainer, making his musical mark with this weird collection of songs. Fans of edgy, bizarre music will probably enjoy this one immensely.

Get it here.

"Overture"

"Selected Readings From Rat Catching"

"The New Clean Song"

"Auto-Manipulator"

"Clowny Clown Clown"

"Getting Out Of Bed"

"These Boots Are Made For Walking"

"The Daring Young Man on the Flying Trapeze"

"Never Say 'Never' To Always"

"Selected Readings From Oak Mot Part I."

"Selected Readings From Oak Mot Part II."

"Selected Readings From Oak Mot Part III."

"Selected Readings From Oak Mot Part IV."

"Selected Readings From Oak Mot Part V."

"Selected Readings From Oak Mot Part VI."

"Selected Readings From Oak Mot Part VII."

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9130798564226516463.post-3113601686658985592008-06-06T14:17:00.000-07:002008-06-06T14:26:27.522-07:00Cardiacs – A Little Man and a House and the Whole World Window (1988)
Amazing, overlooked band. As a result, a later American LP release of Country Life featured a different cover shot. Instead of Karoli and Grunwald posed in front of some trees, the revised cover featured only the trees.

Get it here.

"The Thrill of It All"

"Three and Nine"

"All I Want Is You"

"Out of the Blue"

"If It Takes All Night"

"Bitter-Sweet"

"Triptych"

"Casanova"

"A Really Good Time"

"Prairie Rose"

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
